However, we did take a bit of a day trip to Glasgow today, which is 10 miles from Kilwinning! Our original plan was to stake out the summer festival going on in the area right now. Unfortunately, our destination was a bit of a ways away from the bus station, and my group members got a little distracted... So exploring the city center it was!
The theater and arts district!
Glasgow!
A kilted band and the Apple Store in Merchant City!
Merchant City!
So after we had wandered the "Merchant City" area, which was full of tons of shops and people, we headed out of the area and wandered about some more. It just so happened that we fell upon my most favorite thing ever: Glasgow's Modern Art Museum. It was weird. As to be expected.
The statue outside should give you a hint.
A weird exhibit that took up a whole room
Cool architecture! Weird stuff.
Exactly.
Sums it up.
After our modern art experience I was thoroughly agitated, as modern art usually leaves me, and we cooled off by walking to the City Chambers, where they hosted the Olympic torch when it went through Glasgow!
Nice city, in summary.
We didn't have much time afterwards, since the Houcks wanted to make it to a gig in Edinburgh. So we caught a bus home with another portion of the group we had lost earlier on, and passed the time back playing 20 Questions the whole ride home!
Maybe it was the riddles we were left with, but I wasn't feeling too hot after the bus ride. I soldiered on and made it to dinner with the Houcks, but opted for a taxi home rather than braving a bar gig. My taxi driver engaged me in some lively conversation and was very excited to report that the weather might be improving soon! Hopefully all will be well tomorrow and the final week abroad will commence!
Last Facinelli class is tomorrow Oh No.
