We saw an IRN BRU taxi on the way. And the bridge!
We arrived in St. Andrews around noon and it was freezing. I know that I've talked about how cold it's been here before, but this was levels of cold unexperienced. Because we were on the coast, the temperature was lowered quite a bit. Add that to whipping winds and a wee Scottish rains, and you've got a recipe for perfect golfing! Yes, we set out first for St. Andrews Old Golf Course, the oldest golf course in the the world.
Perfect day for a Scottish tee
Myself and my hand warmers that were soon after purchased
Beautiful course!
We split up after the initial golf course visit. I was with a group who chose to flee the winds! We headed a little more inland to find our way towards the old ruins of the cathedral. On the way, we ran straight into some of St. Andrew's buildings and its own cathedral. We took a look around!
Me at the Art History Department! (William was heeeerrreeeeee!)
GORGEOUS campus
And these are dorms
It was absolutely beautiful. We loved every minute. Some of the group claimed that they would get bored in St. Andrews, but I would love to study there. Serene and picturesque.
Kate and Wills? Really?
Afterwards, we continued our stroll and found the old ruins of St. Andrews Cathedral. Granted, it was a cemetery, but it was breathtaking. The area was wonderful and the architecture, though destroyed, was beautiful.
St. Andrews at its best
Thoroughly chilled, we took refuge in a nearby coffee shop. I proceeded to get a hot chocolate as big as my face.
Flake bar on top. Marshmallows in the middle. Delicious all around.
We walked around the town after that. It was still bitterly cold, but at least it wasn't raining! I made it to the student center and picked up a St. Andrews half-zip for myself! I can look like a student now!
We walked for a bit more and decided it was time to go home. Back to the bus station!
Our wee group!
We made it back safe and sound! I'm finishing up a paper for Foy and we're all trying to get cozy for the night! Scotland's weather is planning on being... Scottish for the rest of the trip, so we better get used to it!

Brrrr. I've played the Old Course. Quite a thrill for a golfer. Sand traps the size of our garage. That was the very first course Auntie Marie ever played. If you can imagine. The St. Andrews members were glaring at us through the glass of the club. The ranger kept coming through on his motorbike telling us we were behind. The Scott's take golf seriously (awfa seriously as we would say). My first experience on a links course. I lost 6 balls in 9 holes. The ground just swallowed them up.
Glad you got a chance to visit and see the college. Such a beautiful place. Button up and be glad of your wellies for the coming week. LY.
