The One Where the Locals Apologize for the Rain

So it rained. A lot. All day. Endless rain.

It took us quite a while to mobilize ourselves yesterday morning. The weather was just not appealing! But eventually, we got out an about. First, we went to the city centre to find a hole-in-the-wall jewelry store that Laura wanted to buy a claddagh ring for herself. Olivia scored a claddagh necklace, and I got my hands on a lovely key with a celtic knot worked into the design! While we were there, the jewelry store woman who worked there apologized for the rain! She said it was pretty terrible that day. We didn't question it.

From there, we trekked off and made our way towards St. Patrick's Cathedral! We found Christ Church and Dublin Castle along the way.

They're connected by a bridge that goes over the busy street!

A couple more blocks and we made it! We shook off inside and took in how beautiful it all was. The Cathedral is well known for being Jonathan Swift's old stomping grounds (as well as being named after, you know, St. Patrick).

Robert Boyle's statue in his father's monument and the Stone said to be a part of St. Patrick's baptismal well

J-Swift

Gorgeous stained glass and the chapel where I wrote another prayer and lit another candle for Papa and Uncle Jim

The "organ fund" made me laugh. It's in a keg

LOVED this spiral staircase that led to the organist

Pretty floors and a chair where William III sat when he won the Battle Boyne

Gorgeous knot stained glass

St. Patrick and the spot outside where it is said he baptized people

My love of gothic cathedrals is being satisfied by this trip

It was a very peaceful and serene experience. We all really enjoyed ourselves. I have found that cathedrals really make me think of Papa, especially when the organ's playing.

It had gotten later once we left the cathedral's church yard, so we headed out to find something to eat! We found this awesome tapas place near Temple Bar and had our fill of food. Creme brûlée and mocha for dessert. We are so lucky to be on this trip!

Yessssss

We're not sure what today will bring! So far, Trinity College is in the cards to see the Book of Kells. Then who knows! We're more excited about tomorrow, when the three of us will be shipping out to Galway to see Mumford & Sons at their festival! So we'll probably spend most of the day freaking out about that.

Also, I saw a Cadbury bus and it was the best.

Really wonderful descriptions and glad you visited St Patrick's and said another prayer for papa and Uncle Jim. I feel the same way in churches and when I hear the organ and also hymns. A nice association to make with papa.

Can't wait to hear about the trip to Gallway Bay. I hope the weather eases up a wee bit. Not sure If the festival is all outside. I'm aure you're glad of your wellies and other rain gear.
